At Bright Parents Nursery & Primary School, learning goes beyond the classroom. Our Frisbee Club gives children the opportunity to build friendships, discover their abilities and develop values that will serve them throughout life.
Why Frisbee Matters to Our Learners
Ultimate Frisbee is a lively team sport played with a flying disc. Players advance the disc by passing it to teammates, creating an environment where communication, coordination and mutual trust matter as much as physical ability. At Bright Parents, we value the life lessons that come with every game.
Coordination and Teamwork
Throwing, catching and moving into position help children strengthen hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. More importantly, success depends on working together. Learners practise communicating clearly, encouraging teammates and sharing responsibility for a common goal.
Time Management and Quick Decisions
In standard Ultimate Frisbee, a player holding the disc has up to ten seconds to release a pass. This encourages children to stay alert, assess their options and make thoughtful decisions within a limited time. These habits can support concentration and time management beyond the sports field.
Discipline, Respect and Fair Play
Ultimate Frisbee places special importance on the Spirit of the Game: players are responsible for respecting the rules and one another. Abusive language, intimidation and aggressive behaviour are unacceptable. Learners practise self-control, honesty, patience and respectful disagreement, whether they win or lose.
Caring for One Another
Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport. Players must avoid physical contact and remain mindful of everyone’s safety. This teaches children to show empathy, look out for fellow players and understand that a good teammate cares about other people’s wellbeing.
Working Together to Promote Frisbee in Schools
The school is also engaging with education and Frisbee stakeholders to explore opportunities for promoting the sport among learners in Mukono District. Such conversations help create awareness of the game and its potential contribution to character development and school sports.
